Giving it Back – To the Surf and the People it helps

SURFCHIQUE Giving Back Program - to the Surf and to the people it helps

We’re excited to announce our new giving back program, that we’ve integrated into the site, which gives back a percentage of sales for all products sold on SURFCHIQUE.com.

You have the choice to select which of our causes you would like the proceeds to go to or if you don’t select anything, the funds will be split equally amongst all.

We commit to always pledge at least 1% of all sales to our causes (less processing fees), but will be increasing that amount significantly for certain product promotions throughout the year and around key holidays and gift giving periods. We may be a small business, but every bit helps!

Below is a quick summary of the causes, why we wanted to align with them, and what they support:

Sea Trees

Sea Trees

Many of our products such as our Sea Salt Surf Spray and Surf Bum Butter use ingredients from the sea, such as plankton extract, sea kelp, and sea salt, so we wanted to give back to the ocean and surf from what we take.

Sea Trees literally plants trees in the sea to remove carbon from the air to fight climate change and protect and restore our coastal eco-system.

Beautifully Flawed Foundation

Beautifully Flawed Foundation

The name of this cause is perfectly aligned with us, as we are a beauty brand, but not focused on fixing flaws, more just with self-care and having fun with beauty products, as we agree that our many of our flaws are what makes us unique and beautiful.

Founded by Bethany Hamilton, a professional surfer who lost her arm in a shark attack, their mission is to encourage a broken world and offer hope to overcome through Jesus Christ. They offer programs that support young people living with limb difference or those who’ve experienced traumatic limb loss.

A Walk on Water & Urban Surf for Kids

Both of these organizations use surf therapy to help children with special needs or youth in at risk communities. We believe that children are our future (yes, that’s a Whitney Houston song too, but still so true) and empowering them with the positive effects and life changing healing that surfing can provide.

A Walk on Water

A Walk on Water’s slogan is “We Are Surf Therapy”. They focus on using the surf’s transformative powers for children with unique needs & empowering them with a feeling of pride and accomplishment, as they discover the incredibly transforming experience of surfing.

Urban Surf for Kids

Urban Surf for Kids are catching waves and changing lives for youth in foster and at-risk communities. They provide opportunities for healing and empowerment through surf therapy, mentorship, and life skills achievement programs.

Second Wind Dreams

Second Wind Dreams

Although the children are our future, we believe the elderly are often over-looked and forgotten about in society. The aim of this organization is to give the elderly experiences outside of their home or nursing homes that they are unable to accomplish on their own anymore and we strongly believe in getting out of the house and outside for fresh air!

Second Wind Dreams looks to change the perception of aging through the fulfillment of dreams and the offering of innovative educational opportunities to caregivers and communities. They want to shed light on the positive aspects of aging, connecting a society to a forgotten truth about seniors: the truth that age does not erase hopes and dreams. Their program has fulfilled tens of thousands of dreams since its organization's inception in 1997. Many of these dreams are simple things like getting out of the house to attend church, take a bus, or even adventures like going on a hot air balloon ride or para-sailing out of a wheelchair. Who knows, perhaps we can help someone surf again that hasn’t been able to get out to the ocean on their own like this woman was able to do by visiting the beach the first time since 1974!
